Daring to Rest Retreat: Becoming a Well-Rested Woman

“The world needs you and what you have to offer.  But it needs the fully alive, well-rested you, not the exhausted you.”

– Karen Brody, founder of Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice for deep rest and renewal. There is no movement or effort required. We lie down in a cozy nest of blankets and pillows. We invite deep relaxation into our physical bodies and minds by following prompts for breath sensing, body sensing, and guided imagery.

Using the Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra method for women, we will be tending to our exhaustion on 3 levels:

1) Physical exhaustion (Rest phase: Saturday)

2) Mental/emotional exhaustion (Release phase: Sunday)

3) Soul/life purpose exhaustion (Rise Phase: Monday)

Sessions are Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11:00-4:00 with a nourishing lunch and beverages/snacks.

Option to stay at Limina for the whole weekend with 3 meals/day and oceanfront lodging. Cost varies based on room selection. A limited number of commuter spots are available for those who wish to attend the daytime sessions and lunch only.

Your retreat package includes:

–A recording of Hester’s surrender to sleep meditation to help you unwind from your day and drift into a peaceful sleep.

–Recordings of Hester’s rest, release and rise yoga nidra meditations so you can take rest home with you into your daily life.

–An organic cotton eye pillow. This gentle weight over the eyelids signals to the vagus nerve that it’s time to rest.

–Your own copy of the Daring to Rest book by Karen Brody. Hester will be teaching short rest practices from this book that you can continue to use at home.

–Fairy Godmother Rest Balm by Hester’s friend Shelagh at 1912 Aromatherapy. Hester loves using this at night to drift into a peaceful sleep, or to go back to sleep after waking up in the night.

Circle Time to share our experiences

As you put your feet up, and rest in zero gravity chairs (or on the earth if you prefer), you’ll be guided through a series of breath sensing, body sensing and guided imagery to reach a deep state of relaxation.  Yoga Nidra helps us release exhaustion on all levels: physical, mental/emotional, and life purpose exhaustion.

Hot Tea will be provided including Tulsi Tea grown for us by my dear friend Rose at Inner Earth Wisdom in Union, Maine. Tulsi, also known as “Holy Basil” not only smells amazing, but it boosts our immunity, reduces stress, and helps us feel more balanced and grounded.

Please note *This is a rustic retreat*, no bathroom or water (yet!), it’s pee in the woods😊.  There will be future retreats with full amenities.

Cost: $40 per person

Invite a friend to join you!

Outdoor Yoga Nidra

Join us weekly on Thursdays 8-9 am in the Camden Library Amphitheater starting May 26 thru August 25.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient sleep-based meditation. The Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra method is designed specifically for women to release exhaustion on all levels: physical, mental/emotional, and life purpose exhaustion.

As you lie down, your mind is guided to the deepest state of relaxation imaginable. As your body relaxes, you become open to meeting emotional and mental patterns that are holding you back, and listen for what your heart desires. It is said that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is like 3 hours of restorative sleep in the body.

Bring a yoga mat or beach towel and as many blankets/pillows as you’d like to get comfortable. Be sure to dress for the weather as it is sometimes chilly in the morning and as you’re lying still you may need extra layers or blankets. This program is by donation and 20% of donations go to the Camden Library.

What women are saying about Daring to Rest:

“What a rare opportunity to rest deeply in a way I don’t do in normal life”

“There is power in resting in a community of women & sharing”

“We all carry ‘shoulds’ and have a never-ending to do list. You really DO have to give yourself PERMISSION to rest”.
